PhD Performance Studies & Human Geography
I work across qualitative research methodologies, practice as research and performance/art as research. I'm a trained architect and artist and the politics of body and space is at the core of my research and practice. Working across the media of text, video, and performance, I explore the ways in which bodies and performative interventions contribute to the social production of space and the urban condition. My doctoral thesis looks into the creation of alternative spaces of everyday life, through performances that transgress gender norms in Iran.
I'm the co-founder and editor of Konesh a journal on the politics of space and cultural interventions, and have established Radio Khiaban a podcast on gender and space in Iran, which was recently published as a book in Farsi.
